Preview: The event begins with a series of boats that travel along Brush Creek through the darkness. They make their way with torches aflame in an enchanting display to ignite the braziers and bring all 55 pieces to life. Throughout the evening, boats return to the braziers, constantly feeding them with new wood and keeping the sculpture in its original form for the duration of the evening.

The Kansas City Symphony will present the world premiere of "Lost Souls" - A Piano Concerto by Israeli composer Avner Dorman on November 20-22. "Lost Souls" tell the haunting story of a séance summoning ghosts of concertos past, ending in an exorcism. Praised by Gramophone Magazine as "a fresh, young voice, worth following," Avner Dorman is a rising star composer whose orchestral works were recently performed by the New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Titled Britten's Orchestra, this project explores the compositional genius of British composer Benjamin Britten's music. Now that final ticket sales for Kansas City Repertory Theatre's new holiday production of "A Christmas Story, The Musical!" have been tallied, artistic director Eric Rosen, who also directed the record-breaking world premiere, has announced that the production earned $883,151.50 in gross revenue.

The Harriman-Jewell Series has just announced its 46th season. The 16-event schedule begins on September 18, with the dynamic dance company, Trey McIntyre Project, and closes on May 5 and 6, 2011, with The Aluminum Show, a shining example of creative movement and theatrical innovation. Two white billboards and a piece of prominent art will be covered in white wrap to emphasize the absence of art. This innovative public awareness campaign was designed by Barkley Creative and leads with the slogan: "If We Don't Support Artists, There Is No Art. Support ArtsKC.org."
