The Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City has just launched the first ever public awareness campaign for the ArtsKC Fund. Two white billboards and a piece of prominent art will be covered in white wrap to emphasize the absence of art. This innovative public awareness campaign was designed by Barkley Creative and leads with the slogan: "If We Don't Support Artists, There Is No Art. Support ArtsKC.org."

Longtime vocal music fans in Kansas City know that one of the most enjoyable days to be spent midwinter is at the Metropolitan Opera District Auditions which are held here each year. Usually over 30 singers, and sometimes as many as 40, perform a selection of opera arias in front of expert judges to determine a series of winners, three of whom advance to the regional auditions.

The Kansas City Symphony, led by Music Director Michael Stern, will release their second CD for award-winning audiophile label Reference Recordings on November 10, 2009. Titled Britten's Orchestra, this project explores the compositional genius of British composer Benjamin Britten's music. Recording sessions were held in June in the outstanding acoustics of the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Missouri.

"Lost Souls" tell the haunting story of a séance summoning ghosts of concertos past, ending in an exorcism.
